FARMVILLE, Va. (WTVR) – Authorities are investigating a shooting that happened near Longwood University Sunday evening .
Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of High Street around 8 p.m. after they received a 911 call.
Officials said Jacob E. Richardson, a 22-year-old Longwood student, was showing a friend his gun when it discharged.
Kathleen N. Battle, a 21-year-old Longwood student, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.
Battle was taken to Centra Southside Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Farmville police are investigating the shooting.
