7.0 magnitude earthquake rattles Alaska, south of Aleutian Islands

(CNN) — There was an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 in the Pacific Ocean just south of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands on Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

There is no tsunami danger, the USGS said.

The quake, at a depth of 21.4 miles, was centered about 57 miles east-southeast of Adak, a city on one of the Aleutian Islands.
