(CNN) — Two years after blowing a late lead at the PGA Championship, Jason Dufner this time hung on to win the tournament and his first major.
Trailing Jim Furyk by one shot overnight, Dufner put in a solid final round at Oak Hill — hitting a two-under-par 68 — to beat his fellow American by two shots.
Sweden’s Henrik Stenson was third, three shots behind Dufner.
World No. 1 Tiger Woods finished tied for 40th and will see his drought at majors extend to six years and British Open champion Phil Mickelson, the world No. 2, tied for 72nd.
