RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WTVR) -- Investigators said they have found the body of a 16-year-old South Carolina girl missing for nearly a year.

WIS reports the man accused of killing Gabbiee Swainson led investigators to where the girl’s body was buried Thursday.

"This has been 357 days of terror that Gabbiee's mother and family have endured. That this community has endured,” said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott. “It's not the way we'd have liked this to have ended."

Gabbiee disappeared from her home back in August of last year.

Prosecutors said they plan to add a murder charge to the kidnapping charge Freddie Grant is already facing. However, he no longer faces the  death penalty for cooperating with investigators.
