RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Family and friends of a woman killed by a hit-and-run driver last year gathered for a bike ride in her memory Sunday night.

Last Monday marked the one-year anniversary of Lanie Kruszewski's death. The 24-year-old was riding her bike from work, as she often did, along River Road when she was struck by a passing SUV.

"It still feels emotional, a different kind of emotional," Jackie Kruszewski, Lanie's sister, said.

About fifty bicylists participated in the ride which started at the Oregon Hill overlook at ended at the memorial to Lanie located on River Road.

Pattie Kruszewski, Lanie's mother, was on hand as well - passing out Lanie magnets and bumperstickers.

"We are hearing all kinds of stories about how they are raising awareness," Lanie said.
