RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)-- Police are searching for a suspect after a vehicle struck a pedestrian early Saturday morning.

Police say it occurred at the intersection of Walmsley Blvd. and Chesco Rd.

Officers were called to the scene a little after 1:00 a.m. for a report of an adult female who had been struck by a vehicle.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

CBS 6 talked to people who live in the area. Michael Gill told reporter Chelsea Rarrick that the police presence near his home caught his attention.

"If she doesn't make it, it's going to devastate the family. It's going to be a sad thing," he said.

Rickie Jenkins said he walks in the area of the intersection almost daily. He said it can be a dangerous intersection at times.

"I hope that it brings light to people driving through here to slow down," he said.

Detectives believe the suspect vehicle may be a full-sized pickup truck that is missing its right, outside mirror and may be gray in color.
