Should Americans work before getting food stamps?

(CBS) – U.S. House Republicans may add a work requirement for Americans who get food stamps. They met Wednesday to consider ways to trim the $80 billion-a-year program.

Forty-seven million Americans received food stamps last year. The government said 92 percent of food stamp recipients are children, the elderly, the disabled, or people who are already working.
