RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Farm Fresh supermarkets, the American Red Cross and CBS 6 teamed up for a Mad Dash Challenge on Wednesday to raise awareness about the need for more blood donors.

Richmond's Regina Barefoot, the lucky donor, won a three-minute shopping spree at the grocery store.

The Red Cross said having donors like Barefoot is crucial especially this time of year because so many donors are on vacation and fewer employers are holding blood drives.

Additionally, the Red Cross’ Kristen Hatfield said summer is a difficult time because high school and college students, which make up 20 percent of the organization’s donor base, are on summer break.

Our celebrity shopper, Virginia This Morning's Bill Bevins, also took on the three-minute shopping challenge. Everything in his shopping cart will be donated to FeedMore of Central Virginia.
