SALT LAKE CITY (WTVR) — A Utah man made a special harness for his dog to take their friendship to the skies.

Our sister station KSTU reports Don McManus’ dog Shadow, an Austrailian Cattle dog, would follow him everywhere.  McManus says that’s how Shadow got his name.

“He always like to chase me,” he told KSTU.  “So I would be out here flying, and he would chase me and jump up at me an sometimes get my foot and hang on a little bit.”

He describes Shadow as a protective dog that doesn’t want to be left behind.

“He wanted to go along, and he didn’t really like to see me up there by myself,” McManus said.   “He needs to keep me safe, so he needed to go flying with me to keep me safe.”

Shadow is a psychiatric service dog who helps McManus with separation anxiety.
