Man robbed, beaten in Monroe Park

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Police are looking for three suspects who robbed and beat a man in Monroe Park.

Police said the suspects asked the man if they could use his phone around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. When the man refused, police said the men attacked the man and stole his phone and backpack.

A witness saw the suspects leaving in a silver sedan, that may have been a Honda.

Police released the following suspect descriptions:

  1. African-American male, 5'4", 20 to 25 years old with a short afro, small goatee, wearing blue t-shirt and blue jeans
  2. African-American male, 5'4", 30 years old, wearing red t-shirt, and black or red shorts
  3. African-American male, 6'0', in his 20s, wearing yellow t-shirt

Both Richmond and VCU police said they've increased patrols in the area.
