HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Authorities said two Henrico firefighters were treated for heat-related illnesses battling a house fire Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews were called out after someone spotted flames shooting from the roof of a house at the intersection of Hickory Avenue and Woodside Street around 2:30 p.m.

When fire crews arrived, they found heavy fire from the roof of a two-story single-family home in the 1400 block of Hickory Avenue. Officials said two water tankers were brought in since there were no hydrants in the area.

Additional units were also called in to assist with water supply and rotating crews.

The blaze took over an hour to bring under control and two firefighters were treated and released for heat related illness on the scene.

The Red Cross is assisting a family of four that was displaced in the blaze. The family was not home when the fire broke out.

Investigators have not determined what caused the fire.
