(CNN) — Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged was arrested early Saturday in Washington on five charges, including carrying a firearm without a license, a DC Metro police spokesman told CNN.

A white Camaro that the NFL player was riding in attracted the attention of police for driving erratically, spokesman Araz Alali said. Police tried to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled the scene.

The driver fled and has not been located, Alali said. Lefeged, 25, and another passenger fled a short distance but were arrested without incident, he said. Police could not confirm whether others had also been inside the car.

Aaron Timothy Wilson, 23, was the other passenger arrested.

The incident happened at 12:05 a.m. Saturday.

Lefeged has played in every game of his two-year professional football career, including four starts last season for the Colts.

Lefeged and Wilson were both charged with carrying a firearm without a license, having an unregistered firearm, having unregistered ammunition, presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of an open container of alcohol, Alali said.

A law enforcement source said a H&K .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol belonging to Lefeged was found underneath the passenger seat. Police also found plastic bottles with orange juice containing “an odor consistent with vodka,” the source said.
