UPDATE: Police ID city shooting victim, arrest made

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond Police have made an arrest after officers on patrol in the Gilpin Court Housing Community heard shots fired around 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

Within a minute of hearing shots, Richmond Police said officers located an unresponsive victim in the 1200 block of St. Peters St. The victim, later identified as 22-year-old Darvis McLaughlin, of Clarkson Road, was dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

Shortly after police found the victim, officers arrested 30-year-old Curtis L. Finley at the 400 block of W. Broad St.  Finley has been charged with murder and use of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Detectives do not believe this was a random act and they are not searching for additional suspects at this time.

The victim will be identified after next of kin has been notified.
