Zach Daniel weighs in on storm chasers controversy

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- As the world mourns the loss of three storm chasers who died in Friday's tornado in Oklahoma, some newly released video shows the power of the storm.

Daniel Shaw, a  storm chaser who captured video on I-40 near El Reno on Friday, documented the intense winds as a semi barreled straight for him.

The video shows the tractor-trailer bump Shaw’s car. But then the big rig is sucked backward by the force of the tornado, the cab and trailer tip over and the entire truck slides around some more.

There has been no word on the truck driver's condition.

Shaw's video shows the life-threatening dangers storm chasers can encounter.

CBS 6 News’ Lorenzo Hall Julie Bragg asked CBS 6 Chief Meteorologist Zach Daniel if the data storm chasers provide is worth the risk to their personal safety.
