BOSTON (WTVR) — The Boston Marathon was interrupted over a month ago when two brothers set off bombs, killing three people and injuring over 260 others.

However, thousands of runners and marathon victims headed down Boylston Street to finish the final mile of the race on Saturday, leading to a celebration as they crossed the finish line.

The event, called OneRun, was organized by Boston running clubs and businesses.  The Boston Athletic Association also took part in organizing the event.  The association’s executive director said he wanted to give runners a true experience of running the Boston Marathon.

The word quickly spread through social media.  OneRun spokesperson, Kathleen McGonagle, told Boston.com that the event attracted 3,000 runners and bombing victims.
