The cold front that passed through our area Thursday night has brought much cooler and less humid air.  Dew point levels Friday afternoon were the lowest they have been in about seven days, in the lower 40s.  The dry air will allow temperatures to fall quite a bit during the next few nights.

Lows Saturday and Sunday mornings will be in the low and mid 40s for much of the area.  It will be a bit warmer near the coast, and a bit colder in far northwest Virginia, where some 30s and isolated frost are possible.  Most areas will not set new records, but these temperatures are about 10-15° below normal.

The jet stream pattern that is bringing this much cooler northwesterly wind flow will get pushed north of the area early in the coming week.

A warm front will pass through the region on Tuesday, bringing much warmer and more humid air back into the area.  A few thunderstorms will accompany the frontal passage Tuesday, and there could be a stray storm on Wednesday.

Dew points will return to the 65-70° range by the end of the week.  Combined with temperatures around 90° will produce heat index values in the mid 90s.
