RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) - Police are searching for a suspect after a teenager was shot in Richmond, but have not released what led up to the shooting.

The incident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the 7500 block of Drumheller Dr., which is right off of Chippenham Parkway and Forest Hill Avenue.

The teen was driven to nearby Chippenham Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said doctors have since stabilized him, but the victim is still in critical condition.

Right now there is no information on a suspect or a motive.

Since the victim was taken directly to the hospital, the delayed report to the police potentially slowed the initial investigation, a police spokesperson said; however, the delay did not hamper the investigation in this case.

About a month ago, Trish Cousins moved into a town house on the same block where the shooting happened.

She pulled up to Drumheller Drive to find police tape blocking off her home. Her six-year-old daughter was home when the shooting occurred.

"She was in the house asleep," said Cousins.  "Had she known this was going on, she'd been scared to walk out the house right now."

Richmond Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.  If you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers, that number is 780-1000.
