CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Police are looking for the person who left explosives on the porch of an older couple in the Hilton Park neighborhood in Chesterfield County.
Police said a plastic bottle filled with fireworks was discovered on the couple's doorstep on Saturday night. Luckily, the rain kept the fuse from igniting.
And this is not the first time an explosive device has been found in the area. In fact, two small chemical bottle bombs exploded on Shadymist Drive on March 28.
While some think of bottle rockets as a prank, police are stressing that any type of device could cause an explosion and have serious consequences.
"These types of devices could result in anything from a small or minor burn to the loss of a finer or hand, eyesight or even death," said Capt. Kenny Williams, an explosives expert.
Folks in the normally quite neighborhood are baffled by the latest report.
"I think it's crazy, actually," said neighbor Aysia Stockton. "I've not picking up anything. I feel like everyone in this neighborhood should take caution on opening their door and seeing objects and not people."
