RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - The new Redskins Training Camp facility is expected to have a big impact on the local economy.
That was the subject at this morning's Retail Merchant's Association forum.
The three main topics were how local businesses can get ready, benefit from the training camp, and how they can get involved.
More than 100,000 people are expected to visit the camp, which opens to the public July 25.
It's expected to generate nearly nine-million dollars in revenue every year.
"It's not just that we'll have these visitors come one time," said Charlotte Perkins, CPO Bon Secours Virginia. "I think people will fall in love with the history of Richmond, the things the city has to offer."
"And you'll see so many people coming back to the city not just during training camp, but throughout the year," she added.
Governor Bob McDonnell says the new Redskins camp will generate 200 new permanent jobs.
