(WTVR) – New York City launched a new smartphone app designed to help teenagers get information about sex without having to see an adult. The city said the goal of the app is to provide information to prevent teen pregnancy.

The NYC Protection+ app answers questions about sex, birth control and even provides directions to abortion clinics. The app includes sex education videos and information on contraceptives.

“Many teens are simply not comfortable talking about sex with their parents,” Health Commissioner Thomas Farleytold the New York Daily News. “With this app, we’re speaking their language.”

Farley said most parents he’s spoken to have been supportive of the new app.
