CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Special agents with the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) arrested two men accused of taking untaxed moonshine across state line.
Vernon Thomas, 76, of Chesterfield, and Bernard Davis, 64, of Chase City, are charged with illegally transporting alcohol and possession of untaxed distilled spirits, according to the ABC. The class 1 misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in jail and/or a $2500 fine.
The ABC said the men were arrested in Mecklenburg County over the weekend. The arrests, which happened in two separate take-downs, came at the end of a three-month investigation, the ABC said.
ABC agents said they seized 150 gallons of untaxed distilled spirits, $510 in cash, a Chevrolet truck and Chevrolet cargo van from the men.
