CHESTER, Va. (WTVR) -- The death of a man wanted in connection with a Chester woman's homicide is offering little comfort for the victim's family.

"My sister was everything to us," Marcus Carey, the brother of Chester homicide victim Madalyn Carey, told CBS 6 News' Catie Beck.

Carey said knowing how his sister died will haunt him for all of his days. But now he fears he may never understanding why she was killed.

"Why did he have to torture my sister the way he did, but we won't have those answers of course," said Carey.

Answers will now become more difficult to find after the man police intended to arrest for murdering Carey and then setting her home on fire is believe to have taken his own life on Thursday.

Police said Lloyd Edward Warren Jr. took his own life with a gun inside a vehicle parked in a Cumberland County graveyard.

"He killed himself, he definitely took the low road but that's what cowards do," said Carey.

Carey said he had never met Warren and had no idea that a relationship between Warren and his sister was heading down a dangerous road.

"I should have been there, but I had no way of knowing. No one did. It's just something we'll have to deal with [and] I'll carry that with me," he said.

Carey said he will carry mixed emotions to his sister's funeral on Sunday. The idea of a last goodbye is almost surreal, for he said the beloved teacher and his only sister had much more life to live.

"Totally left a void in our family that will forever be lost," he said.
