DETROIT (WTVR) – Major league pitcher and Goochland native Justin Verlander has reportedly signed the most lucrative pitching contract in baseball history.
Citing sources, ESPN’s Buster Olney reported Verlander, 30, signed a seven-year deal worth $180 million. “A vesting option for an eighth year could push the deal to $202 million,” Olney wrote on ESPN.com.

Verlander has won 124 games over his eight-year career with the Detroit Tigers. In that time he has won the Rookie of the Year, Cy Young and Most Valuable Player awards.
Verlander is represented by former J.R. Tucker baseball star Mike Milchin. Milchin is a managing partner at SFX Baseball group.
