CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR) - Chesterfield Police confirm a teacher was arrested for soliciting to commit prostitution. The teacher was one of more than two dozen people arrested during the undercover operation.

"I've been told that one of our employees had some interaction and was arrested by Chesterfield Police for some very untoward behavior," Richmond Public Schools Chairman Jeffrey Bourne said.

The teacher, who works at Huguenot High School, is on administrative leave pending the outcome of this case. Police have not released the names of those people written citations for solicitation to commit prostitution.

When CBS 6 reporter Jon Burkett went to the teacher’s home to get his side of the story, he did not want to comment on the case.

don't want to make a comment?” CBS 6 asked.  “No," he replied.

Chesterfield Police said their sting was an all-day undercover operation along the Midlothian Turnpike corridor.

As for the teacher’s status, Bourne said the administrative process is underway.

"The H.R. process will begin, or it's my understanding it has begun, based on my three months here at the school board,” Bourne said. “He will be put on administrative leave and H.R. will do their best to get his side of the story along with talking to police and letting the judicial process play out."

It's not clear if this is paid or unpaid leave.

A Richmond Public Schools’ spokeswoman said the matter is a personnel issue and she could not comment.
