PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) – Train lovers from around Central Virginia will get a chance to see a historic steam train roll into town over the weekend. The train, part of the “21st Century Steam Excursion” program is scheduled to stop in Old Towne Petersburg.
The steam train, which is traveling from Norfolk to Petersburg with 500 passengers, will arrive in Old Towne along the tracks to the north of the Carriage House Apartments on River Street around noon on Saturday. After a two-hour layover, the train will leave around 2:00pm.
Petersburg city officials will be on-hand to greet train passengers and direct them to the city’s historic sites and restaurants.
