ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WTVR) — The Virginia kindergarten teacher and school nurse charged in a murder-for-hire plot waived their right to preliminary hearings in court Thursday.

WDBJ reports the charges against Cathy Bennett and Angela Nolen now go to a Franklin County grand jury to be certified.

Investigators said Nolen, a teacher at Sontag Elementary School, tried to have her ex-husband,  Paul Strickler, killed. Additionally, Cathy Bennett, a nurse at the school, is accused of helping Nolen plot to kill her husband.

Investigators said Nolen handed over  $4,000 to an undercover agent she believed was a hit man last month.
