RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Businesses and local officials from the Tri-Cities and five surrounding counties that are part of Virginia's Gateway Region, an economic development organization, held their annual dinner Thursday night.
CBS 6's Bill Fitzgerald hosted the event for the third year. And the group had some eye-popping numbers to offer from 2012: outside companies brought in some 1565 jobs, while existing companies added another 631!
Together those companies added about $660 million in capital investment in the region.
When you think of Rolls Royce coming to Prince George, or Amazon to Chesterfield and Dinwiddie, remember VGR got it done!
Aaron Brickman from the U-S Dept. of Commerce was the keynote speaker at the Country Club of Petersburg event, and he provided valuable insight into how regional (and state) EDO's can bring in foreign investment.
