Five VCU Rams, in their inaugural Atlantic-10 conference appearance, scored top basketball honors on the list released Tuesday by the A-10 conference.
Briante Weber, who is among the nation’s leader in steals, was named Defensive Player of the Year. The sophomore from Chesapeake averages 2.8 steals a game.
Junior Juvonte Reddic and Sophomore Treveon Graham earned spots on the second team.
Senior Darius Theus, who ranks third nationally in steal percentage and third in conference per steals, was honored on the all-defensive team.
Freshman Melvin Johnson landed on the all-rookie team.
The full list of winners is below, and it includes another Richmonder, but from a different university: Darien Brothers, with University of Richmond, scored a place on the third-team.
