FIRST Robotics Competition

RICHMOND, Va (WTVR): FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is the signature program of FRIST, an international non-profit that organizes robotics competition for kids K-12, encouraging them to get fired up about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

More than 300,000 kids are worldwide involved in FIRST programs, in Virginia about 9,000 are involved. One of the local teams the “VikingBots” from Thomas Jefferson High School is competing for the 5th year, this 2013 team is made up of 60 percent female and 40 percent male with their theme “Back it up and dump it”. Kids who participate  in FIRST programs not only are having fun but FIRST teams qualify for more than 16 million in college scholarships.
