Henrico school board meeting to focus on $11 million deficit

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The Henrico County School Board will meet Thursday night to address the district's $11 million shortfall.

The board said it will come up with a plan to close its largest budget gap in years.

Officials said that a tentative plan does not include any layoffs or instructional changes. However, workers will not be getting a raise.

The district plans to save money by turning off lights in classrooms when no one is in there. It also wants to double the number of half days for students next school year.
