ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WTVR) — Authorities say a tax driver shot an Alexandria police officer Wednesday during a traffic stop Wednesday.
Alexandria Police Department said the incident happened during a traffic stop for a minor offense.
WUSA reports the officer was found on the ground and motorcycle on its side before he was medevaced to the hospital.
The station reports the officer suffered life threatening injuries and is in critical condition.
An Alexandria Police Department spokesperson said the driver of the taxi was apprehended after he was chased to Fort Hunt Road near Belle View Boulevard.
