RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Prosecutors have dropped the charges against the man accused of trying to kidnap a 2-year-old girl while she was walking with her parents in a Charlottesville mall.

The girl was grabbed and taken by a strange man. Fortunately, the family got her back before the man could leave.

However, today the charges against the suspect, James Key, were dropped.

The prosecution agreed and even said they don’t believe key is a threat and will be monitored for several years.

Key will still have the charge on his record, unless he asks for it to be expunged.
