DOSWELL, Va. (WTVR) - The Hanover County woman who hit and killed a trooper outside the Virginia State Fair will not go to prison.

Angelica Valencia pleaded Thursday no contest to a charge connected to the death of trooper Andrew Fox.

The judge gave her a 12 month suspended sentence and fined her $1,000.

Valencia was in a Jeep with her child when she struck Fox on Oct. 5.

The 27-year-old trooper was directing traffic on Route 30 at the time.

Trooper Fox left behind a wife, parents, a sister and a brother-in-law.
