ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Images of dynamite and a gun painted on a high school's walls prompted police to delay the opening of Orange County High School on Wednesday.  Prospect Heights Middle School was also delayed to accommodate school bus schedules.

Police said officers contacted school officials after they discovered the graffiti around 2 a.m.

Orange County Sheriff Mark Amos said the high school's main building, the field house, the AG building, and even one of the driver's ED vehicle was tagged.

Police delayed the start of school to ensure the building was safe for students and teachers. No explosives were found and school resumed after the delay.

"Hopefully, they don't think it's a prank because it is pretty serious. The  man power… we take it very seriously," Gene Kotulka, Orange County Public Schools Director Of Student Services, said. "If we find who did this, they will be held accountable."

Investigators told CBS 6 reporter Shelby Brown security cameras may have captured images of the vandals. Orange County's sheriff said the vandals would face felony vandalism charges once they are identified and arrested.
