RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)– A man at the Carytown Kroger caused quite a melee around 7 p.m. Wednesday, even striking out at police.
Paul W. Napper II, 40, was charged with two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer, destruction of private property, disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice, according to a Richmond police spokeswoman.
Captain Kiniry with the Richmond Police Department said Napper man began cussing out customers. The manager asked him to stop, and to leave.
Napper then chased the manager into an office, where the manager called 911.
Several officer arrived to restrain the man and escort him off the property. The man struck officers.
In the process, a lot of merchandise from the floral department was knocked around.
Back-up arrived and it took a number of officers to restrain the man. Witness at the scene said the man was heavily intoxicated and yelling “wanna piece of me, a piece of me?!”
Kiniry said that at this time they are unsure of the total damages at the grocery store.
Two of the officers were injured, though not severely and are at the hospital getting checked out.
Per standard operating procedure the disruptive man was also taken to the hospital.
