TIGNES, FRANCE (WTVR) - A French champion skier and rally driver has become the first man to successfully perform a 360-degree backflip in a car.

Guerlain Chicherit, 34, performed the remarkable stunt in a Mini Countryman John Cooper Works SUV in the Alps of France.

Chicherit approached a 25 ft ramp at 37 mph, popped 75 ft into the air and flipped his Mini a full 360-degrees backwards. The car company claims it is the first time a backflip like this has been pulled off.

Chicherit's stunt took four years to prepare for, he completed the first run in a private attempt on Sunday morning before doing it again in front of thousands of fans in an event set up by the Monster energy drink.

The backflip had previously been attempted by other drivers but Chicherit became the first automotively-propelled driver to execute a perfect landing.
