POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Investigators charged a Powhatan man with two felony counts of cruelty to animals in connection to the deaths of two Siberian Huskies.
Louis Nigro, Jr. was arrested and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond, according to the Powhatan Sheriff’s Office.
The Huskies, Jethro and Abby, were found dead in Powhatan after they escaped from their backyard in January. Their owner told CBS 6 the dogs were shot to death.
“The sheriff’s office informed us they had a lead, and they came back about 30 minutes later saying they had found our dogs shot and killed,” Patrick Obradovic said.
Nigro is scheduled to appear in court on February 15.
