(CBS) – Where you live may increase your chances of developing asthma and allergies.

People who live closest to the equator have higher exposure to UV-B rays. According to a new study,  those people also had an increased chance of having hay fever, food allergies, and skin sensitivities.

Researchers believe the increased exposure may be linked to Vitamin D, which can cause changes in the immune system.
