(CNN) – When it comes to getting an education it appears many have gone too far.

That’s according to the Center for College Affordability and Productivity.

The group released a study Monday that finds 48% of college grads in the United States are overqualified for their jobs. They say it is easy to see proof of this if you look around; cab drivers, waitresses, phone technicians, etc. have degrees that are going unused.

Researchers say the study shows a real disconnect between what employers need and the kinds of degrees students are obtaining and colleges are awarding.

Experts are using this study as an indication for the future, saying the problem of underemployment is only going to get worse.
