(WTVR) - Another Virginia soldier was killed in Afghanistan.  Army Sergeant David Chambers, a 25-year-old Hampton native, died on Wednesday from wounds he received when his transport vehicle hit a roadside bomb.

Chambers' family said he went to several different colleges, but his desire was to serve his country.  He enlisted in 2009.

His mother recalled the Chaplains coming to her home this past week.

"I was in the den and when I opened the door and saw them, I said, 'Is Dave okay?'," she recalled.  "He said, 'No, he's been killed.'"

Chambers was awarded a purple heart in 2011.

Earlier this month Sgt. Aaron X. Wittman, 28, of Chester, Va., died in Afghanistan from injuries sustained when his unit was attacked by small arms fire while on mounted patrol.
