CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- An elementary school teacher in Chesterfield County has been busted for having heroin on school grounds.

Chesterfield County police said  Jessica L. Young, of the the 13000 block of Thornridge Lane in Midlothian, was charged with possession of controlled paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance classified as a Schedule I or II drug to wit: heroin on school property.

Police said the 35-year-old special education teacher was arrested Monday at Swift Creek Elementary School after police found her with heroin.

Young is scheduled to appear in Chesterfield County General District Court on March 13.

Shawn Smith, a Chesterfield schools spokesperson, said Thursday that Young was immediately removed from school because of the severity of the charges.

"The employee has not been working for the school division pending the disposition of the charges and the administrative process," Smith said.
