A rock star is talking about nearly losing his career because of dementia.

ABC News reports Dick Wagner had a stroke and heart attack in 2007.

The former guitarist for bands like Alice Cooper, Aerosmith and Kiss, told ABC News he woke up from a coma and thought his career was over. Wagner said he had a paralyzed left arm, then new symptoms like mental fuzziness started to appear.

Wagner was diagnosed with NPH, a condition that typically strikes after the age of 55 and often mimics the dementia of Alzheimer’s and the impaired motor skills of Parkinson’s disease.
