RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–A Virginia woman being sued for her bad reviews on Yelp now has representation in court.
The Virginia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and Public Citizen filed papers at the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Jane Perez is being sued over comments she posted online about the contractor with Dietz Development. Her comments implied he stole items from her home.
The contractor claimed the reviews are false and is suing for defamation in the amount of $750,000 dollars.
A judge ordered Perez to delete the accusations and barred her from repeating them in any new posts. The groups representing Perez said that this order is a violation of the First Amendment and Virginia law.
