Canadian recording artist Drake is credited for popularizing the acronyms YOLO (you only live once) and now he wants manufacturers to step off his catchphrase.

The lyric came out of his 2011 collaboration with Lil Wayne in a song called “The Motto” and it took seed as a worldwide catchphrase.

Over the holidays Drake was doing some shopping and noticed that Walgreens and Macy’s have been cashing in on the motto’s popularity, plastering it on hats and shirts.

He posted Instagram photos of the merchandise and implied that he deserves royalties.

“Walgreens…you gotta either child or cut the cheque.”

“Macy’…same goes for you.”

Do you think Drake is joking? Do you think he has any rights to YOLO?
