CHESTERFIELD, Va (WTVR) -- Last minute holiday shoppers flooded area stores on this Christmas Eve, as they tried to take advantage of last-minute deals.  Several stores catered to the procrastinating shoppers by offering deep discounts.

"This is the first time I've gone last-minute shopping," shopper Giada Mannino said. "It's a little hectic but it pays off."

Deals and savings could be seen around every corner.  Some stores, including those at the Chesterfield Towne Center were eager to help the last-minute shoppers check things off their last-minute lists.

"We've had some amazing sales,'' mall worker Janet Morgan said.

In order to help clear the shelves, discounts were offered.  It was good news for shoppers, but for workers it was chaotic.

"Let's just say if I didn't take my anxiety medicine today I would be having a panic attack," mall worker Kaytie Kimner said.

"We are here for a specific purpose," shopper Jennifer Harris said.  "He's actually here shopping for my gift."

It was an eleventh hour gift hunt, many shoppers tried to avoid.

"Normally, I'm on my game," shopper Charles Hibbler said.  "Normally I have shopping done by now, but I had some things I've been busy with so I haven't had the time to get out and shop."

Hibbler joined thousands of others who were also making their final purchases, with just enough time to have it wrapped and under the tree in time for Christmas Day.

"Everybody is in a hurry to get their items.. and they may be last-minute items," shopper Richard DaSilva said.
