HOUSTON (WGHP) — A Houston man says he caught a UPS employee on video stealing an iPad mini delivered by FedEx.
Al Alverson told KHOU he and his wife were expecting two Christmas gifts they purchased online to be delivered, however when they arrived home, there was only one package on the porch.
Alverson said he received a notification from the delivery company stating the package was dropped off earlier that morning.
“It said it was delivered at 9:29 a.m.,” Alverson told KHOU. “So I go up and I have a DVR with all the cameras on it to take a look.”
When Alverson looked at the video, he saw the iPad Mini was delivered at 9:29 a.m. However, when he looked at the video at the 1:15 p.m. mark, he noticed a UPS delivery driver on his porch.
As shown in the video, the UPS employee picks up the FedEx package and walks away.
The Alversons told KHOU they contacted UPS about the incident. They said they were “getting the run around” until they posted the video on YouTube.
“I got a call this morning and they were very helpful. They promised they would get me a replacement iPad today,” Alverson told KHOU.
UPS told KHOU they were able to identify the UPS employee involved and he was immediately fired. The company said he was “a seasonal worker” who was hired to deliver packages during the holidays.
The employee was also charged with theft, according to the report.
