CULPEPER, Va. (WTVR) – Police received a call on Friday around 5:30 p.m. that a man had been shot in the leg.

The sheriff’s office says the two men were headed north on Route 29 when they got into an argument.  The driver, David Thorsted pulled over and told the victim to get out of the car.

Officials say Thorsted allegedly shot the man in the thigh when he did not get out of the car.  Thorsted drove the victim to Culpeper Regional Hospital.  The man was later taken to UVA.  He is currently in stable condition.

54-year-old Thorsted is charged with unlawful wounding, wounding in the commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm.

Thorsted is held at the Culpeper County Jail without bond.
