RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - A group of University of Richmond students held a demonstration Thursday outside a meeting of UR Trustees.

"The demonstration is in response to the athletic department reconfiguration and is seeking for the reinstatement of the Men's Track and Field and Soccer Programs," student Kyle Ragan wrote in an email.

Ragan said students would also like a "greater voice" when the university makes big decisions.

The students planned to hold a second demonstration Friday when the full board is scheduled to meet.

At a meeting in October, UR president Ed Ayers told students the decision to cut the track and soccer programs was final. UR plans to add a Men’s Lacrosse team in 2014.
