Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has invited Steven Spielberg to screen his new film Lincoln at the U.S. Senate on Dec. 12—in the actual Senate chambers.

Deadline has the exclusive, and reports that Spielberg will accept. The publication notes that while many films have screened at the White House, this may be the first time that one has played in chambers.

Sen. Reid (D) is said to be a big fan of the film. The film continues to do well across the nation, and many hope that it will win an Oscar. Especially many a starry-eyed Virginian.

“The irony is that what’s happening with the fiscal cliff isn’t that different from what’s going on in the movie,” a “film insider” told Deadline.

We’ll see if the attendance at Lincoln screening is bipartisan, and can inspire the senators to navigate these fiscal cliff negotiations.
