RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond Police identified a man killed riding his bicycle on Mechanicsville Turnpike. Police said Luther M. Jefferson, 62, of Maddox Street, was killed Thursday afternoon when his bicycle collided with a box truck near the I-64 off ramp.

The Richmond Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team completed its investigation, but police said investigators needed to interview more witnesses before talking with the Richmond Commonwealth Attorney’s Office about possible charges.

The driver of the truck was not hurt. Police said they would release his identity if charges were filed against him.

The Medical Examiner is working to determine Jefferson’s cause of death.
